The Silberthal valley

In the heart of the forest, the Silberthal valley contains numerous iron and silver lead seams (exploited mainly from the 15th to the end of the 17th century). With nearly 200 mining works, the valley has seen many changes from the beginning of its activity around 1250 to its final closure in 1905. Today, in addition to its mining riches, the valley offers visitors a preserved natural area between forest and waterfalls. Mining trails and visits to the Saint Nicolas Mine allow visitors to discover the archaeological riches and follow in the footsteps of the miners.
