GR5 / Crossing the Vosges Massif

430 km of walking routes!

The crossing of the Vosges Massif on foot, with its 430 km, is the first national route to be labeled at European level: Lleading Quality Trails – Best of Europe!

Fully marked by the Vosges Club along its entire length with the red rectangle, it crosses the Vosges Massif from north to south.

To the north at Wissembourg, it runs through the Vosges du Nord Regional Natural Park to reach the Vosges du Sud and cross the Ballons des Vosges Regional Natural Park.

An itinerary that takes you to the must-see sites of our region: the Markstein, the Grand Ballon, the Hartmannswillerkopf – Vieil-Armand, the ruins of the Engelbourg castle, the Saint-Thiébaut Collegiate Church and the Staufen Cross… not forgetting the unmissable gastronomic events on our ridges with the inns and farm inns!

The 19 proposed stages can be covered in their entirety or in sections.
