The theme of this workshop: Memory and culture
The workshop focuses on construction during the war in the central mountains, the experiences of the combatants and daily life on the Vosges front (1914-1918). The participants, who take on the role of archaeologists, use excavation techniques to discover, describe and document objects by placing them in their geographical and historical context. The workshop concludes with a visit to the Historial.
Goals and teaching tools:
- Supervision by specialized site guides,
- School booklets to work on before, during and after the visit,
- Adapted to different school curricula,
- Available in German.
- A bilingual geology application on site at the museum.
To note:
- Bring good shoes and rain gear for the battlefield,
- Bring flashlights or headlamps,
- Possibility of lunching outside and sheltering under the Historical in bad weather,
- Site and battlefield not accessible to PRM.
- History accessible to PRM,
- Snack bar on site.
- Most excursions take place in the mountains. Please check distance and altitude difference.
