Guided tour: The Museum of the Friends of Thann
Ideal for groups with a passion for history, this guided tour offers a unique insight into local heritage and the traditions that still shape Thann's identity. From the richness of its permanent collections to the variety of its temporary exhibitions, the museum invites visitors to engage in a genuine dialogue between past and present, in a historic setting imbued with authenticity.
Housed in the former Corn Exchange, the Museum of the Friends of Thann takes visitors on a journey into the city's past and the people who have shaped its identity. This emblematic historic building perched on the banks of the Thur River houses a permanent exhibition spread over three floors, tracing the city's milestones through the centuries, from the conflicts that have marked its territory to the popular customs that once punctuated the lives of its inhabitants.
On the first floor, the lapidary room highlights the 15 panels of the Bangards, the vineyard guardians who watched over Thann's precious hillsides. Not far away, the Walch room, dedicated to temporary art and history exhibitions, complete the experience by offering a different theme each year to enrich the visit.
