Guided tour: visit of the Mine of Saint-Nicolas
The theme of this guided tour: Geology
This mine is the most productive in the Steinbach valley and one of the largest silver-lead mines in southern Alsace. Exploited since the 16th century, the Saint Nicolas mine is of regional importance, supplying the Giromagny foundries. Mining came to a halt during the Thirty Years' War, and the mine was devastated. Mining activity came to a definitive halt in 1902. During your visit, you can explore the gallery for around 250 m to discover the technical prowess of the miners of Yesteryear.
