The stork park

An emblematic image of Alsace, the stork is also that of the town of Cernay, which is called "the city of storks".

In 1978, one of the first reintroduction centres for this bird was set up in the city to help protect it. A successful gamble since around fifty couples give birth to around thirty storks each year and the park is home to around sixty settled storks.

Storks roam freely around the city and usually come to the park for meals, so when you're walking around the city or around the park, keep your eyes peeled!
