Wine trail from Bangards to Rangen

In the past, the Rangen was crossed by the bangards, "vineyard guards" whose mission was to watch over the precious vineyard, a source of prosperity for Thann.
This is how you will follow one of the bangards to discover the southernmost vineyard in Alsace and the only one in the region to be classified Grand Cru in its entirety.
Its south-facing hillsides extend over an area of 22 ha with slopes of up to 45°. This vineyard produces 3 exceptional grape varieties: Riesling, Pinot Gros and Gewurtztraminer.
Three routes, marked with 19 educational panels, are available to you:
- a short route of 2.2 km – 40 min round trip which uses the cycle path and is accessible to people with reduced mobility,
- an average route of 3 km – 1h45 round trip, 80m elevation gain, crisscrosses the Montaigne path.
- a 5 km long route – 2h30 round trip, 180m of elevation gain, more athletic, passes by the Croix du Rangen. From up there, you can admire the panorama that unfolds before you.
