Established in 1924 on the site of the great industrial, agricultural, and craft exhibition of 1923, visited by President Alexandre Millerand, two-thirds of the profits from this exhibition were allocated to the creation of this public garden.
It owes its name to the King of the Belgians, in memory of his heroic conduct during the First World War.
The bust of Mr. Scheurer-Kestner, a Thannois industrialist and senator, can be seen here. This work by the sculptor Dalon, a faithful replica of the bust in the gallery of the Luxembourg Palace (Senate), was donated to the City by the Scheurer family.
Open to the city, its shaded paths connected by small bridges spanning a peaceful stream bring freshness to the sunny flowerbeds. It encourages rest and strolling. One wing of the park is reserved for young children to play. It is equipped with a playground.
