It extends over nearly 80 km, starting from Cernay and ending at Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines and is divided into several sections. The most spectacular part is the one that crosses the Vosges massif.

This route is also famous for its many passes, which offer panoramic views of the surrounding peaks, the most famous being the Col de la Schlucht. The Grand Ballon, meanwhile, is the highest point of the Route des Crêtes, at 1 meters above sea level. From the summit, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Alsace plain, the Black Forest in Germany and even the Swiss Alps on a clear day.
